When purchasing our JD 4100, we felt it would be foolish not to use JD's 12 months interest free payment plan. So opening a letter from the JD credit Dept kind of alarmed me. The letter stated that we live in an area officially considered a disaster area (Summer Drought). Apologiesing for any losses we may have suffered, And that JD is sensitive to this situation. And said to call this 1-800 number if we needed to make other arrangements or postponement of payment on the tractor...I feel very fortunate & blessed that this letter didn't come as a "god Sent" to us. And simple as it may be, It made me feel even better about our decision on Green. Maybe its that we've become numb to Corporate America's Impersonal Chill that something like this would impress me.....And I guess this posting really doesn't matter or help anyone, but I thought I had to make mention of this personal consideration...from a Big Corporation...

I too just received my letter from John Deere and I live in an area effected by Floyd. I thought it was a very kind gesture from a big Corporation, so often unheard of this day in age. I certainly feel good about my decision to buy the Green. AND YES IS DOES MATTER! ....

Customer relations are so valuble nowdays. JD with reap the benefits with letters like that in the long run. Their customer relation dept. is staffed by the "new thinkers" straight out of college that know whats best for a big corporation. The old corperate ways are dying. They know the Internet is being used more and more everyday for big-purchase research like tractors etc. Hey, the post by mls is already being read by hundreds of people by tomorrow. See what they are getting at? The Internet opens a whole new ballgame. The companys with poor customer relations are just one "click" away from doom nowdays. I know of a few bad horse trainers lately (they deserved it) that were put out of business for good by an Internet chat board. the word spreads in seconds verses years. ....

We also purchased a 4100 and felt it would be foolish not to take advantage of the JD 12 mo. same as cash offer. We were very fortunate in Michigan and did not suffer a drought or floods. Sounds like a wise move on the part of JD. Has anyone ever called the 800 number to hear what the alternatives are?? ....

I also received a letter from John Deere Credit. You have to look at it from a business point view. John Deere knows farmers may miss their payment deadlines. Basically what they are saying is, send what can, when you can, and please don't file for bankrupcy. Its better to get a little money than none at all. ....
